Although the hotel was situated in a commercial area, the welcome was personal, cheerful and warm. My room was peaceful and breakfast was hearty and unrushed as I could get coffee refills to my liking! A lovely building, clean and proudly managed. Thank you to the team!

The site was quiet. It is well positioned for walks along the headland plus excursions into the city to the south and to the beaches and villages to the north.
Some of the rooms including ours were in separate blocks, Thankfully there was no rain or high wind when we stayed there.
The bedroom was small and cramped and not what one would expect of a four-star hotel. There was only one chair for two people. Limited coffee facility One Cup one small cup no refills of coffee or cream. The safe was small and difficult to access on the floor. What we thought was a fridge / mini bar was in fact a fuse cupboard. There was advertised a swimming pool and spa, yet this small feature was not part of the price as hotel guests had to pay extra. The restaurant did not have reserved places for hotel guests and appeared to be fully booked on the Saturday.

Saint Brieuc is a lovely town in this part of Brittany.
Saint Brieuc is a lovely town in this part of Brittany. It's big enough to have a great selection of restaurants, bars and cafes. Hotels too. Yet, it's small enough you can get out of it into the lovely Breton countryside easily enough. Not overtly touristic, but there are plenty of nice places around to visit and cycle to. A walk down to Le Legue through the Parc de la Vallée de Gouédic was a lovely start to the day.
Within a short drive you can get to Binic and Paimpol, or the other direction to the magnificent beaches at Val Andre.

Our stay in La Récréation was a very pleasant experience. The personal attention from Youmna & Anthony made it feel if your are staying with friends, who wants to make the very best of your stay.
At the day of arrival they send us a WhatsApp message to ask what our arrival time would be and if they need to make a reservation in one of the local restaurants. When we arrived, they came out the building to give us a tour around the building and told us about the history of the building.
Breakfast with home made food or local food was sublime. The first day the gave us a lot of tips where to go and where not. They made also a map with interested things circled. Everyday at breakfast there was a personal talk about the previous day and the day ahead. Youmna & Anthony were really interested about the sites you visited and the plans of the day.
The stay was very pleasant and many hosts in hotels or restaurants can learn from the personal approach of Youmna & Anthony.

We enjoyed our visit to Binic-and then the Cote de Granit...
We enjoyed our visit to Binic-and then the Cote de Granit rose taking the coastal road from Lannion to Corniche Bretonne--we ate in Binic twice Plerin three times and also in St Quay Portrieux. We have never visited northern France or Brittany and the standard of food and welcome for us was excellent.
Once we got use to the road systems we were able to get round Plerin and St Brieuc well and the signs were clear and in the right place.

We approached from the south and we for a lovely walk along the beach at Bout des Ville then for drink and dinner down by the yacht haven under the big N12 road bridge.
We loved it and will use it as a stop off point, en route to Roscoff again.

My visit to St Brieuc was to attend a football tournament in Ploufragen. Having visited prior to covid I was aware of the town hence return visit. As a non driver I am happy to walk into old town and down to harbour. Even as a solo,pensioner traveller walking from town to hotel location(station)late at night felt safe,unlike uk !
