Maison de famille 24 has been lovingly renovated in a French style. The accommodation is very comfortable and very well equipped for all your needs. Comfy beds, big shower and all very clean. Coralie our host was extremely attentive and communication with us before and during our stay was perfect. Questions answered straight away. Outside space was lovely and peaceful and we sat in the sun early evening with a vino or two! Many thanks Coralie. We hope to to return one day.

The place was absolutely lovely, clean, so full of character, and the owners were lovely and friendly and helped us with our poor French and spoke brilliant English. The food was amazing also! Would definitely stay again.

We were worried when we were driving through the town to get here as it wasn’t as quaint as we expected, but as soon as we got to number 36 our worries disappeared. The host was welcoming, and so were the sheep and goats :)
We stayed in the 2 bedroom holiday home/apartment which has its own little balcony to sit and enjoy the scenery. The 2 bedrooms, lounge, dining room, bathroom, and kitchen were well equipped and immaculately clean. We didn’t use the pool because this was just a quick stopover for us, but it looked clean.
You could comfortably stay here for a longer term stay.

There are several interesting sites to visit within a short distance- an excellent Roman museum, a large number of prehistoric cave sites, and an impressive cathedral. Saturday morning market in Perigueux is very interesting; and there are good cycling opportunities starting from the hotel

Boulazac has commercial trading estates which are useful for accessing supermarkets and petrol stations but not for tourists unless the accommodation is found on the outskirts where there are quiet and tranquil residential areas and semi-rural locations to be enjoyed. It is, however, very close to Perigueux with its tourist attractions and gastronomic cuisine. It is also well placed for visiting the Dordogne and all of its attractions by car.

We have already arranged to return fo 2 weeks in June next year
to see the many attractions at a leisurely pace and try the many local restaurants and taste the lovely wines

We loved the narrow streets, with bars and bistros everywhere. The cathedral is a very striking building, and can be seen from long distances. We enjoyed the markets, and the general atmosphere of the town. We felt safe walking round.

There are things to do in the area - you need a car to be able to get to them - the property is in a rural location - it is peaceful and quiet :) The countryside in the area is pretty - good for hiking or cycling - there are excellent cycle routes you can use to explore the wider area.

Lovely modern hotel, rooms are great size surrounding area outside is all greenery and there is a park with a wide path where you can walk your dogs. Bar and Restaurant over the road very welcoming when hotel bar not open.

It's a fairly new modern hotel, with spacious rooms with air...
It's a fairly new modern hotel, with spacious rooms with air con.
We upgraded to one of the superior rooms with a balcony with a table and chairs and overlooked a grassy space with trees and a walking / cycling path to the rear of the hotel.
There's plenty of space to put things in both the room and bathroom, a large walk in shower and the room has a kettle to make hot drinks. We found the staff we met to be friendly and helpful and the lady who was on duty on Sunday morning did an amazing job, keeping all the breakfast buffet topped up, clearing tables, helping out with queries as well as looking after reception - and all done with a smile. We especially enjoyed the breakfast - the best selection of items at any of the hotels we stayed at (including hot options) and not the most expensive either and the option to eat in the dining room or on the terrace outside the dining room, that did have some tables in the shade, was a nice option.
We only stayed here for 1 night as it was an overnight stay whilst driving north back to the ferry, but would certainly consider staying here again (especially if the restaurant was open - we stayed in May and it wasn't at weekends, although a cafe & restaurant in the complex just over the road) and it fitted with our travel plans.
A few little niggles....
There were paper cups in the room for hot drinks and they were quite small. The hand held shower attachement was quite low down in the shower so you had to pick it up to use it - it's nice if they are wall mounted higher up, so you can use if you don't want to be drowned by the overhead shower. Using the overhead shower for more than a short while resulted in water flowing out of the shower tray onto the bathroom floor.

On reflection we should have spent more time in Périgueux...
On reflection we should have spent more time in Périgueux and less time in Paris.
It’s a beautiful location and travelling by train allowed us the opportunity to view the country side and surrounding towns on the way to Périgueux.
