I liked the 2 very different museums that I visited: Jean Jaurès museum and the Goya museum. There is a nice old town with small shops, some parks and it very walkable. Sunday morning was quite lively which is always a good sign.

Castres is a lovely town , beautifully decorated for Christmas. Lovely Christmas Markets , very family oriented. However , not a lot of restaurants open Christmas Eve even for lunch and a
many closed from the 23 rd of December till end of first week in January ! Something to think about if deciding to be in Castres over Christmas/ New year . A big drawback.
