This place is absolutely lovely and quite a bargain considering the level of service and amenities. We loved the beautiful grounds and our comfy room. The real stars are the staff- exceptionally helpful and fun. We particularly enjoyed chatting with the servers in the restaurant where we enjoyed one of the best meals of our six week trip (and that’s saying something since we enjoyed a lot of great meals in France and Italy). Highly recommend this place and wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely stay there again.

Wonderful place to stay to visit the nearby area. The apartment is luminous, spacious, and has a nice view from the balcony. The town is less touristy compared to Aix-les-Bains, and also quieter. The lake can be reached on foot, while Annecy can be easily reached by car in 40-50 minutes, so this makes it a strategic location.

Excellent for 1 night stop, may also be confy for 2-3 nights stay in Aix-les-Bains or around. Place is quiet, parking in front of the door, beds were comfortable, airco very quiet but efficient, room was large enough, bathroom is sufficient too, a separate toilet is a big advantage for a family stay, breakfast was quite good and not too costly. Staff was nice.

Enough space to stay a longer period. In fact, everything is available in the kitchen to prepare your own meals. The instructions from the owner how to enter the apartment were crystalclear. The location is superb, directly near the lake.

If you call your hotel L’Incomparable you are setting...
If you call your hotel L’Incomparable you are setting yourself up for a fall.
This is an expensive hotel with high aspirations. Unfortunately, some things are not quite right.
Our room was a designer piece on the second floor with a mountain view. However, we were stunned to see no shower in the huge bathroom. Instead, we were provided with a free-standing central bath with a hand-held shower-head. There was nowhere to put soap or shampoo. A beautiful-looking bathroom that just does not work!
Dinner is a ‘surprise’ menu of 5 or 7 courses but obviously no information was provided as to what might be served. This not only made choosing wine difficult but also threw up a problem when the one meat course was offered (there was a lot of fish) and no-one had asked about the desired cuissance. We found the meat too rare for our taste.
On the positive side, the meal courses featured many locally-grown vegetables and herbs and the multi-lingual staff were charming in explaining the dishes on offer.
The hotel is expensive (€20 for a gin and tonic) and in our opinion does not really provide full value for money.
It is certainly not incomparable!

Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports.
If you can, we recommend you try the boat cruse around the lake and include a meal on board.

The Lac is a big draw for us on holiday but the lovely park, busy town centre and friendly people make it a home away from home. It’s almost like a two centre holiday.
Transport routes are great with regular local buses and a great number of trains to go further afield - Lyon, Grenoble, Annecy, Paris and even Geneva to name a few.

One of the most beautiful locations in France. The most spectacular Alpine scenery you could wish to see is all around you. Fabulous places to eat and drink in town and around the lake. Wonderful strolls, hikes and sports to do on the water and in the surrounding mountains. Oh and did I mention the views? 💖
