Cute cottage, spacious, well equipped, very comfortable beds, quiet. Views of the ocean. Vinna and Robert were wonderful hosts, warm hospitality, so helpful. Vinna has an organic fruit and veg stall at front of property, and makes fabulous smoothies, and offers delicious home cooked Fijian dishes. Robert gave us a lifts around, and took us to the waterfalls (wonderful) and he offers boat trips too.

We loved our stay here! Its a beautiful, peaceful, inviting place. The villas are comfortable, well maintained and very spacious. They are surrounded by lush green and flowerbeds. The ocean is at your footstep. Great snorkeling right at the beach. Food is amazing. Service and hospitality are at an extremely high level, e.g. great work at the reception. A family feel and a very positive energy prevail, making us feel very welcomed. A great place to relax.

The Host family was very welcoming and made us feel that we are part of their family as well. Eparama and his son took us to all the tourist attractions and chauffeured my family all around the island. Mili and Aunty made the best breakfast from the presentation, homegrown fruits and freshly made pancakes... it fueled us up for the whole day. Uncle told us many stories of the olden times and the traditions of the island. Our time with the family will be cherish for many years to come.

Everything about Lomani is wonderful! From the grounds, breakfast, the location on the NW coast of beautiful Taveuni, the lovely villa, gorgeous pool, comfy bed, full separate kitchen, app based TV, and most of all the views! There is a local scuba shop walking distance away (also kayaks and snorkel access), and the on-site managers Knox and Kelera were awesome. Would definitely come back!!

The snorkelling out the back of the hotel was lovely. There was a large staff to customer ratio which meant there was always someone to help you. Lots of lovely plants at the hotel and the rooms were nice. Free water refills is always appreciated.

What did I like? Where do I start? I liked...no, I loved every minute of my stay at Maqai. It is as close to paradise as I'll allow my pragmatic mind to entertain. From the relative remoteness to the natural beauty, the super-relaxed atmosphere to the genuine warmth of the staff, this is a very special place. More of a traveller vibe than that of the well-worn tourist path of the islands closer to Nadi. Slightly rustic? Sure, but only in the best possible way. Cathy (manager) ran as tight a ship as possible on a tropical island in the Pacific. She was welcoming and prompt with her email replies to my questions regarding all the various water sports and cultural experiences on the island. In no particular order, the following staff members quickly began to feel like old friends...Navo, Etta, Sala, Emosi, Soni, Tui, Junior, Jale, Johnny, Mama's Soke & Luce, Netta and Suki (four legged and furry). They all exude such an authentically friendly yet service oriented approach to their individual roles. I can't speak highly enough of how they looked after me. It is up to you how much or how little activity you schedule into your day on Qamea. Highlights included surf trips to the outer reefs, snorkelling and lunch on the Island Tour, the Sunday morning village visits and church service, and the food. Crikey, the food. I had to ask for slightly less portions by dinner time, or I would have no room left for evening kava with the locals! If you're reading this review and considering/comparing it with other options in Fiji, fair enough, but I honestly feel it is a rare and rich experience worth every cent and the added travel time to get there.
