The staff was incredibly helpful. It felt like every staff member went out of their way to help and solve any questions we had. Whether they were about fireplace in the room, an aurora hunting trip or the phone I dropped in snow at a train station.

Amazing nature.
Amazing nature. Too much ads about all the hassle activities. Just 15 min out from city there is amazing nature!
People were friendly welcoming and honest. Spoke good English. Restaurants clean and menus in English.
With taxi have to be very careful.

Loved the city, it was fun and walkable, loads of great shopping and eating options, transport from buses to Ubers was excellent. Short distance to airport and Santa’s village, and the amazing Lapland Winter Park, which was a real highlight.

We loved feeding reindeer at the Santa Claus village and heating sausages on the outdoor fire, along with drinking hot chocolate! We loved the 2km husky sled rides too and the hiking trails in Vattunki Wilderness resort. Glow in the dark arctic mini golf was so fun too as was enjoying the views over the river in the snow. We also loved the Sushi buffet in Luckiefuns! We were sad to miss seeing inside the church though!

Perfect location for a winter break.
Perfect location for a winter break. There are excellent amenities and facilities. The airport is close to the city. We paid 22 Euros for an uber to take us to our hotel, but there are also buses available. We used Santa Express bus to go to Santa village which was a good option for 12 euros each way for 2 adults and 2 kids. There are lots of good restaurants in town but also a supermarket if you prefer to cook or just stick up on groceries. We joined our Rovaniemi visit with skiing in Levi but it can be a destination on its own right. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy for a long weekend. We did the Husky ride that was really special. I recommend arriving early to Santa village. We arrived after lunchtime on the first day and only got tickets to see Santa at 7:30pm. Earlier arrival ensures shorter queues. We have 2 kids so had to visit in school holidays but if you can avoid these it is definitely better experience outside these times. Santa village was crowded but still fun.

It is a lovely area with many activities, and we were able to see the northern lights easily.
It is family-friendly and suitable for children, and I recommend staying in the area with a variety of accommodation options.
There is no need to travel further north, as the weather is colder there and many activities are often canceled due to poor weather, with limited alternative options available when this happens.
