Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet was good and the 3-course dinners were amazing, good taste and nice presentation. Lots of warm clothing to borrow, so don't worry about the temperature. The cabin we stayed in was also very nice.

We saw aurora from the cottage. The cottage is close to K-supermarket, which has variety of food and other necessary stuff including souvenir. The cottage has a private sauna, and we enjoyed it.

Beautiful middle age style building of an old Finnish school, the owner told me the story. Facilities are good and the shared bathroom is perfectly working and clean.
Location is perfect to chill and enjoy nature, still very close to the market and the rest of the town (10/15 minutes walk).
The sauna is super convenient and free of charge.
Rooms are spacious, with big wardrobes, and beds are comfortable. There's also a common room with various sofas and games to share some time with other travellers.
The kitchen has everything you may need.
The owner was very welcoming and always ready to help and suggest the best activities in the area.
Very good price point in the area considering the facilities, everything else is way more expensive, especially for solo travellers that can't afford a 500 euro/night chalet.

My room was located in the annex building called “the Bank”. The room was a bit small but very comfortable and well decorated. ( but I do recommend to book the deluxe rooms facing the river for a better experience ) The room temperature was perfect and it was very cold outside (average of -20 c) . I had dinner in the restaurant . The food was good but a bit overpriced. Breakfast was included and was very good. Choice of savoury and sweet. The hotel staff are amazing and always pleased to help. I did 3 excursions organized by the hotel. Altai ski, ice fishing and the aurora tour.. all of them were an amazing experience. The tour guides Tommy and Matilda are fantastic.. they will do everything to make the tour the most enjoyable possible! Matilda took us to an amazing spot to watch the aurora!!! This was fantastic. I really recommend to book the tours with the hotel.

Ivalo itself was cute.
Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!

Ivalo is not big, but it is strategically positioned between Rovaniemi and Inari. Amazing location to admire the northern lights and visit Inari. Nature is incredible and it looks less touristy than Rovaniemi.

Best place to view Northern lights.
Best place to view Northern lights. Unique Husky ride , and snow mobile tours. Winter sports like skiing , cross country , snow walking.
Dreamy Winter Wonderland landscape ! Everything covered in snow is a picture perfect view .
Stay in a Glass Igloo cabin to view Northern lights ( weather permitted)
Renting a car is highly recommended , easy to get around even on an icy road . We used Alamo . Excellent car .
Book all your tours in advance to avoid disappointment .
Have fun and enjoy the cold . Be prepare to bring thermal clothing .
