The hotel owner also organized a car with a driver and a guide for the full three days, and both of them were wonderful (Driver Gashaw and Guide Maereg). We stayed three days with our 3 children to have enough time for visiting all the 11 churches, complete the hiking to the Asheton Maryam Monastery, see the village and have time to simply enjoy the peace over there.

Despite the really reasonable price, this is one of the nicer places in Lalibela. Yohannes is the owner, he is very responsive on whatsapp, he will get you anything you need, he goes to great lengths to make sure that your stay is comfortable and happy. You have to accept that this is remote Ethiopia and that creature comforts maybe somewhat limited. That said I would highly recommend this place as well as the guide that he sent me up with Moges. You will feel like family by the time you leave!
