Exceptional, historic luxury and authentic architecture. We stayed two years ago and were so impressed. I had forgotten the half of how spectacular this place is. It has a warm and even temperature throughout despite being a fort/ castle. I am sure King Carlos and Napoleon didn't have this much luxury. For all its grandeur such as embossed sheets and towels, this parador is informal, friendly and peaceful. The breakfast choice is first class and a lovely mix of waited on service and self service. We splashed out for our wedding anniversary near Christmas and the hotel decorations were simple and stunning.

Situated in a beautiful square in the middle of the old part of town. Arrived late after a longer than anticipated drive so a warm welcome, a spotless room with a comfy bed and a lovely glass of Rioja were all very welcome. oh and somewhere to park the car too!!

Lovely atmosphere and space. Since we arrived on sunday evening with no shops open, the hosts very kindly gave us milk, butter and a very delicious jam! We would love to return for a longer visit one day.

Our 3rd visit to Hondarribia. Wonderful historic centre. Great beach area. Unique in that there is a little boat that crosses to France in 7 mins. Many restaurants and bars. Can be very lively, particularly during festivals.

Lovely, long beach.
Lovely, long beach. Quieter than St Jean de Luz, but still with a good choice of small restaurants, often specialising in fish/seafood.
Good public transport links, not expensive, to be able to visit other nearby villages and towns of the Basque Country
Lovely walk up over the headland, or instead -a little stroll along the promenade.
Visited Hondaribbia in Spain by a very short boat trip that leaves from Hendaye port. Beautiful little village-nice pintxos in the restaurants ! And good view from up by the castle.
The historic little train de la Rhune up the mountainside not to be missed-but book ahead-it gets full.
The chateau d’Abbadia is interesting.

A beautiful hill village ideal for walkers - very quiet, we didn't see any shops in the village though so car required. Very convenient for the motorway France/Spain.
Not many places to eat when we were there in late April. We ate in our hotel - Les Jardins de Bakea which was FANTASTIC! Just superb.

Relaxed, friendly town.
Relaxed, friendly town. The main town is separate from the area with the beach - about a 20min walk along a pleasant waterside walk/cycle way. Both areas are worth a visit. The main town has a nice square with some lovely cafes/small restaurants and the beach area is a little more touristy but also has good places to eat overlooking the sea. We happened to be in town for a fortnightly Friday night community supper in the port so enjoyed freshly grilled sardines, bread, cheese, basque tart and a glass of wine for €13

Lovely area, especially the old town and Plaza de Guipuzcoa. Great vibe on the main streets Nice beach. Good hiking paths. Food is outstanding and prices are reasonable. Inexpensive water taxi across the river to France. The Parador (a 10th century fort/castle) is amazing inside. Worth a visit evenif you're not staying there

It was a little difficult finding somewhere to eat at night. There were lots of wine bars, a few Tapas places and fast food areas in the nearby shopping mall. However, a good quality restaurant we couldn't find despite walking around the town for 30 minutes.
