Malaga Airport (AGP) Information
Location and Transport
Located 3 miles (5 kilometres) southwest of Málaga city centre, Málaga Airport connects to over 60 countries worldwide and welcomes roughly 16 million passengers every year. To get there, travellers have a choice of transport options. There’s the Fuengirola-Málaga Cercanías railway service, located opposite the airport, departing around every 20 minutes. Or there’s the Málaga airport bus service, Línea Express, which circulates between Málaga city centre and the airport. You can also take a taxi from Málaga airport to Málaga for a minimum fare of EUR 15.
Nearby Hotels and Airport Facilities
There are several hotels near Málaga airport, all offering a shuttler service, and there’s plenty to do inside before takeoff. The Exhibition Hall houses temporary exhibits by local artists, while the airport museum lets travellers visit the airport’s original (and now disused) control tower. Other available services include baggage wrapping, currency exchange and free WiFi. There’s also a large retail and dining area.
Terminal Information
Málaga Airport has three terminals all joined together under the same roof, so there is no need for a shuttle bus.

The hostel was very clean, the bed was comfortable and private, bathroom was same.
I found it hard to open Key Box outside the hostel to access key for entry. I also found the code lock hard to see. Only for a very nice Russian lady, staying in the hostel coming to my aid, I wonder would I have got in at all.
For those reasons, I will not book The Welcome Hostel on my return journey.

Torremolinos is a ok for a weekend.
Torremolinos is a ok for a weekend. I wouldn't recommend it for longer stays unless you know people or are scouting for a place to retire. It's basically tourist oriented businesses at inflated prices with an older crowd.

I would definitely prefer to vacation in Spain outside the cities and centers, especially during the holidays. 3-4 days is a good length to spend in Malaga, though. You shouldn't expect much from the nearby beaches. It's nice that everything is within walking distance. However, performances and concerts only take place in the second half of the week. There are a huge number of options for dining out, but the quality varies to the extremes. I was surprised that about 5 km east, the prices of restaurants on the beach were 2-3x cheaper. A nice place to walk with many restaurants is at the harbor.

Easy transport throughout the area. Bus and train easy to access. Would advise anyone staying for a few days to pick up a transport card from tobacconist. You can preload with euro for train and bus travel. Saves having to carry small denominations of euros for fares

A real town which we loved. Connectivity is great with easy access to Malaga and a connecting station to all of Spain. We took the train to Cordoba for a few days- very easy and not expensive.
Loved Malaga with its variety of eating experiences. For the first time, we visited El Palo- will not be the last!

Small, local town mainly unknown by tourists.
Small, local town mainly unknown by tourists.
Has everything you need, plenty of bars & restaurants & surrounded by countryside & mountains.
You need a car if staying in Pinos de Alhaurin as it really is a long walk into town/supermarket etc.
Great place for a short break or base to tour the area!

Overrated city with lots of "hype" on social media.
Overrated city with lots of "hype" on social media. Here's something you should know. (unbiased opinion based on own experience).
- Public transport and metro - BAD (you'll need a car)
- Beaches - BAD (these are not the kind of beaches you'll find in Greece or islands like Palma de Mallorca. The beaches in Malaga are bland and shabby.
- Food quality - BAD (I know, I did not expect that either). Nothing you can't get anywhere else. No authentic local cuisine experience.
- Customer Service - The locals don't know what this means,
- Hospitality - Well, I guess it depends, but the locals are not the kindest people. Most of them don't even speak English. I struggled to order food at restaurants.
- Bonus tip - Do not order Italian dishes there. The Carbonara I was served at the Picasso Bar Tapas at La Plaza de la Merced would get the chef stoned to death in Italy.
If you play padel, Malaga has some of the best coaches and some of the best padel Clubs in Spain.
