It was a great stay — even better than we expected. We loved the design of the room and all the lighting options. The lobby is a nice place to work or relax. Breakfast was great, even omelette, which usually tastes bad on such breakfasts. The only thing I couldn’t find was alternative milk.
Overall, a very pleasant experience!

The Elbcottage is a labour of love and it shows in every detail. The kitchen is well appointed and everything you might need is provided. Coffee machine, Nespresso machine and water kettle. A starter stock for the Nespresso machine is also available. Towels are plentiful and more provided if needed. The beds are very comfortable and pillows in all sizes available. The amenities are Molton Brown and set the tone of the standard in this lovely cottage. Even a shoe horn and a shoe polishing cloths has been thought of. Parking is available in the street and the S-Bahn station a 10 minutes walk away. The little village is just a hop and step from the door and has Pharmacies, Bakeries, a small supermarket, Cafes and a well frequented ice cream shop. There are also several restaurants. Busses go down to the ferry Teufelsbrueck from the main street.

We came quite late to the hotel, and I chosed it because of good rating on Booking.com The GPS system in my car found the way, and we got our room with one double bed and one sleeping sofa, everything was clean and it looked like it was newly renovated. Bed was comfortable, it was a very quiet location, the only sound we heard was the churcebells Sunday morning, and one or two airplanes landing. We ate in the restaurant first night Rumpsteak, and it was top ten :-) Very friendly Waiter who also could speak Norwegian? What is the chance for that? Breakfast had all the thing I need for breakfast, and the Bacon was extremely good. Recommended to all travelers

I could see my cruise ship passing by my window the morning I was going on my cruise. All ships coming from Cuxhaven side pass by the hotel on route to the harbor and cruise terminal. It was great going by boat bus to my hotel.

The hotel is on the border of Wedel and Rissen, I cycled, walked and got the train from Rissen. From this hotel Rissen train station is 10/15 min walk. The airport by train is 1 hour but get on in last carriage at Rissen train station as the train changes directions from another station. Beautiful forest walk 5 mins away. Beach is about a 20 min cycle.

There is always plenty to do, from shopping and culture with great places for food.
The harbour is a great place to spend some time. If you have a day travel card you can take a ride on one of the ferries, included in the price. I recommend the 66 to Finkenwerder and back.

Buxtehude is one of my favourite towns in Germany. It has a good range of shops including a lovely department store. There are some great restaurants and coffee shops. The Christmas markets are lively with a great atmosphere. The only downside I found this year was that the market has become more food and drink with none of the little nik-nak stalls for getting something as a keepsake or a quality German tree decoration. However I understand that this may no longer be viable for the stall holders. It would not put me off going back.

St Pauli was an alternative market but very laid back and fun.
The flying Sleigh and Father Christmas in the larger market was so lovely.
We went up to the UP20 cocktail bar and the view was fabulous.
Elbe tunnel was the highlight ss we had seen it often on tv and the construction is incredible.
