I really liked the old-fashion and homey look of being Tante Alma. The room was very clean and I could rest comfortably.

The bar and restaurant was a bonus, we ate there outside in the well appointed garden both nights. The menu was wide and varied. The room was a very good size, the beds nice and firm and the shower room a very good size with immediate hot water. The location i know, as i have been to this location before over the years for Veterama and enjoy the tram ride and bus. The staff were very helpful on both days. I will defiantly be staying here again.

Definitely recommend to take the tram for sightseeing.
Definitely recommend to take the tram for sightseeing. The tram tickets are easily obtainable at the vendor machines at almost every Haltestelle for everyone’s convenience. Hop on and hop off as you please, there is plenty to see.
To me, the central city cobblestone streets with the tram passing through reminded me of Bulgarian capital city of Sofia very much.
Worth a visit!

If you have business in Mannheim, I would recommend not staying in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Sure they are only separated by the Rhein river but things could have been much easier in my case if I had found property in Mannheim. Do not take my word for it though, try it for yourself.

Ladenburg is a lovely quaint old town with a number of Roman artefacts still in place. It's the oldest roman town in Germany east of the Rhine. The Neckar river, which flows through the town is also very scenic and has a lovely trail running alongside it.

Nice room, it was very clean. It was also very quiet.
Nice room, it was very clean. It was also very quiet. The hotel was next to a street but there was barely any traffic during the night. The beds were good. Very good pillows.
Shower good be better. The stream was a bit hard. For me not a problem but maybe for some people less comfortable. And the curtain was not very good so the whole bathroom was a swimming pool. So that could use some improvement. Shops and restaurants on walking distance and free parking available. I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed as an alternative to Heidelberg.
We stayed as an alternative to Heidelberg. We brought bikes with us and cycled to Heidelberg instead. There's a lovely cycle route via Dossenheim through the vineyards which is really pretty and traffic free. Although the hotel is at the very edge of the village and uphill it's not very steep and was easily manageable on the bikes.

We really enjoyed our time in Mannheim.
We really enjoyed our time in Mannheim. The city felt clean, safe, and well-organized, with a surprisingly wide variety of food options to explore—something for every taste. Getting around was incredibly easy thanks to the efficient bus and train system, which made it simple to get wherever we needed to go without hassle. Overall, Mannheim was a pleasant surprise and a great place to stay.

Ludwigshafen am Rhein is one of the ugliest cities in...
Ludwigshafen am Rhein is one of the ugliest cities in Germany. It was built around the chemical plant of BASF with 60 thousand employees. They are tearing down the Rathaus Center and Berliner Platz looks like after a bombing. The raised highways are also partially removed and the Rhine bridges have to be repaired. The main shopping street has 1 Euro Shops, closed shops and other stuff. Terrible. But it's always worth to go there when you have old friends there. No matter how ugly the town is, I will return. The best thing is the BASF wine cellar in Anilinstrasse they have amazing wines.

Lovely little city.
Lovely little city. The main square is fascinating and the bakery is a good place to start the day. Afterwards it might be tricky (January) as some restaurants might be closed. I hope they'll be open in the summer months again

The water tower (Wassersturm) is nice.
The water tower (Wassersturm) is nice. Otherwise, there's not much notable in Mannheim. I was there for reasons of family history and should have spent 3 days instead of 5. There are more interesting places to visit in that part of Germany.
