We stayed 1 night. We arrived in the evening. We were greeted with smiles and received a wonderful dinner. Very tasty food in the restaurant and helpful and friendly staff. The young man spoke excellent English. It helped us a lot because we didn't speak German. Convenient location. Delicious and quality breakfast. We will definitely be back when we are on our way somewhere. It is also a big plus that they accept animals.

Very good German hotel! Old fashioned, which in this case was good: minimalistic, clean, with a great breakfast! Actually I liked that it was very local and locals are working here, cleaning team, receptionist all were very polite and helpful. On the first floor was German pub, I prefer not to drink while traveling, but it looked cozy too.

A small university town, with few sights to see.
A small university town, with few sights to see. The downtown or main street had cool stores and a mini flea market going on. Food options were limited, not much for vegans as far as I could see. Taxis are plenty, but they have to be called on a local number. And they require YOU to provide a baby car seat, which is difficult if you are travelling for just 2-3 days. Other wise relaxing and nice place to visit. Public transport is very well organised and many areas are within walking distance.

This area is a good route from Dresden and Leipzig to the Czech Republic or, southward, to Nuernberg and Muenich. It was just over the former wall dividing Bavaria from the DDR and Saxony. There is a long history of the German Volk, but many of the buildings are only a few centuries old, the area having been razed during the Thirty year war, the Napoleonic wars, and WW II. Nearby Hof has an extensive series of tour plaques recoding this history. Only occasional billboards refer to the recent past (Mauerzeit). The countryside is lovely.
