Great stop for landing into the airport in the evening. Christopher picked us up at the airport, speaks excellent English and was very helpful with any questions we had for him. Clean, hot shower and he shuttled us back to the airport the next morning to pick up our rental car.

I needed a stay to get by airplane the next day. This was a very good place to take a good shower and sleep in an excellent bed before going to the airport. They also provide a place for your car, that was my case. Also the staff is very friendly!

It was actually a very comfortable stay. The owner was very helpful. I timed it, and it took 15 min to walk to the airport. The room was very clean and comfortable. Alajuela has cool nights, so lack of AC was not a problem. Great budget option for late arrivals or early morning departures.

Heading for forests and remote Mom&Pop 'hotels', for international long haul overnights coming and going, this hotel is PERFECT! Close to airport, rooms were spacious and clean, nearby some local city restaurants too.. but the food at this hotel was great. Dinner and the breakfast buffet was fresh and excellent, also good for vegan. Did not have any time to explore more services.

Very good location, close to SJO Airport, free and frequent shuttle to/from the airport, good airconditioned, quiet room, perfect for a good night sleep after a longhaul flight. Breakfast was really good, the gallo pinto and fried plantains were exceptional. Breakfast was available from early morning. Close to walmart and atm (as the one inside the airport didn't work).

Location and Transport
Juan Santamaría International Airport is located in Alajuela, which is 12 miles (20 kilometres) to the west of San José. A taxi will cost about CRC 19,500 (USD 34) and take about 20 minutes. There are buses that run from the airport to all over Costa Rica, and there are connections between the terminal and the city centre that run every five minutes, from around 04:00 until 19:00.

Proximity to Airport! This facility standards were substandard. My wife hurt her foot on a dangerous doorstop, sewer gas was overwhelming, no hot water, air conditioner was not hooked up, pumping hot air back into the room. The stairs right from ground level were dangerous. English was non existent with staff. They were courteous and helpful. There were no privacy coverings on the windows. Open hole in Bathroom ceiling.

Convenient hotel, close to the airport. Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. Staff was very friendly, kind and attentive.

Nice little place with great restaurant on side and a parking, staff that is very friendly, nice garden and a pool. The beds could be better but room was nice and spacious. This was our second time and will be back. It is a good option for before or after airport night. Only downside is the sound of the airplanes and a construction noise from behind the rooms that starts from early morning.

This was a great place to stay for one night.
This was a great place to stay for one night. For a small additional fee, I was picked up at the airport and very early the next morning I was taken to where I had to meet my tour bus. Also, after I left I discovered that I had left my phone charger in the room. I contacted them and they were kind enough to take it to the hotel in San Jose where I would be staying in a few days.

Alajuela is the area of metro San Jose that is next to the airport. Old central american town center with some old buildings and then various neighbouroods around it. Really not much to see. Main reason to be here is the airport.

Cute little town near the airport. Probably not a destination, but, if you have a night to kill before flying out, it's fine. Otherwise, there isn't anything I know of to draw visitors. Couple cute restaurants on the main street. Felt safe walking around after dark.

I was there one night because it was close to the airport. I would not hang out there for a significant length of time. Not a good place to be after dark. Also came across a suitcase on a sidewalk. It had obviously been stolen and rummaged through.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.
