The hostel was great and everyone was very friendly! I booked a tour to Corcovado from there and they were really great at organizing everything. I also loved the garden area of the hostel - from there you can already spot lots of birds and monkeys.

It is a wonderful place. Macaws in the almond tree, parrots arriving and departing (always with a great party :)), a wonderful garden, 2 really cute cats. We really loved it there. Beach, Supermarket and restaurant are walking distance. A perfect place to start a Corcovado tour as well.
Lubna was on holiday when we arrived, but she managed everything from the distance. We had the place for us own, its a shared kitchen and bathroom.
Be sure you have money with you, it was not possible to pay the room with credit card.
Featuring inner courtyard views, Apartamentos Herrera features accommodation with a garden, around 2.8 km from Tigre Beach.

I can not praise the warm welcome, excellent facilities, and ideal location enough.
From the moment we arrived right through to our departure, the support and services from the owner and staff were excellent.
The property has all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. It is very secure and located within a short walk of all the local amenities as well as the beach. An ideal point from which to visit Corovado.

Super clean house with great facilities! The air conditioning in the bedroom was really cold, which was great :) Erick was so friendly, too! He was very responsive and accommodating. We really appreciated him being able to watch over our car for the days we went into Corcovado and stayed at Sirena Station, too!

Puerto Jiménez served as a rest-over before going to, and when coming from a trip to Corcovado Nat'l Park. We were able to take and ride bikes from the hotel to restaurants and to look around (the walkway to the pier was torn up so we had to go the long way around and the bikes came in super handy). The staff was friendly and could answer all our questions.

Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience.
Amazonia's Ecolodge is a true Amazon Rainforest Experience. Highly recommend a 4WD to get here especially if it is raining. It is a 20 minute drive from Puerto Jimenez and the last section (about half a mile) can be challenging the first time around. The place is quite remote and a fun place to stay if you want to enjoy the rainforest.
The cabin we stayed in was located in the rainforest on the edge of the Corcovoda NP. There is a kitchen to cook simple meals. The cabin had a refrigerator as well. You can make your own drip coffee. Meals are offered by the caretaker's family in another house downhill on the property. There is no Wifi available in the cabin but is available at the caretaker's house. Recommend having home cooked meals at the caretaker's place. Good food and friendly folks but none of them speak English. We were able to get by with very little Spanish.
A guide is available on request. Guide speaks English and will come to the Ecolodge to arrange and take you on tours. We went on several tours with the local guide and were happy with the service. Saw a lot of frogs on the night walk close to the property.
Overall a pleasant and out of the normal experience. If you love to stay and experience the rainforest this is the place.

Zancudo was nice and quiet.
Zancudo was nice and quiet. This is a great place to go to relax, walk alot or not. Zancudo today is probably pretty close to how the place looked 30 years ago, albiet with some big new(er) houses built on the oceafront. There are no 'chain' hotels or restaurants or highrise condos anywhere to be seen. We had an excellent experience in Zancudo and will return soon.

My friend and I went duty free shopping. We had such fun. Was disappointed the hotel no longer has a bar or restaurant. We ate at Mar y Luna. Delicious. On the water. BEST margarita I've had in Costa Rica; I've lived here five years.

Puerto Jiménez is a busy little town.
Puerto Jiménez is a busy little town. It is very laid back and has a slight 'Wild West' feel about it. The people we met were super friendly and helpful. There's a small airport for light aircraft and a pier where you catch public boats to various destinations.
We will go back there again soon!

A gorgeous community that has retained a local Tico feel; expats and tourists are definitely in the minority. I never felt unsafe even walking alone at night.
Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to walk all the extensive jungle trails in Bolita and the Corcovado National Park. But, those I did walk to led me to magical waterfalls, swimming holes and amazing views.
The wildlife is plentiful. I saw 3 of the 4 monkeys that live in Costa Rica and woke in the morning to the sounds of the 4th, the howlers calling in the distance. Toucans, hummingbirds and macaws are everywhere. Not to mention the incredible number of other slightly less showy birds, amphibians, reptiles and insects.
Dos Brazos was an incredible find and I will definitely be back.

We visited Golfito due to its convenience to nearby wildlife viewing (particularly birding) opportunities. A car is a must for this, so if you are not renting a vehicle, this option is not recommended. The property also provides good opportunities for fishing charters. The bay has a big tidal shift and there are no beaches close by, so this is not a good location if that is what you seek.

We had the luxury of spending nearly an entire month on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica - the first two weeks near Drake Bay and the last two weeks in Puerto Jimenez. If you have to choose one over the other, I would go with Puerto Jimenez, which has several advantages: a full grocery store if you're doing your own cooking, nicer beaches with finer sand as opposed to broken shells and sharp stones and, an airport within walking distance to the town. Both towns are safe and tourist-friendly and offer a wide variety of excursions including access to Corcavado National Park but Puerto Jimenez, with its paved streets and better restaurants is my choice.

Dos Brazos is a great place to explore the rainforest. There is a wealth of birds an butterflies. Public transport is limited though so if you are wanting to do activities on the beach or on the sea then maybe Puerto Jimenez is better.
