Checkin at 4AM was easy and fast, staff speaks English. Slept through the breakfast buffet, but it's available for 4 hours. 1PM check out was great because I arrived at 4AM and wanted sleep and shower. The airport shuttle is efficient and organized. Leaves the hotel at quarter to, arrives at airport on the hour. They will email instructions in Spanish and English after you book. My room had blackout blinds and was super clean and quiet. It was basic but nice, provided shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Got a good night's sleep, love the 1PM checkout, staff was nice and helpful. Highly recommend.

The city is fantastic!
The city is fantastic! I used to study there and kinda feels like home. Everything is easy, million of stores at hand and walking distance. Very pedestrian friendly, with a good vibe, excellent content and wonderful natural setting (cerros, mountains around, views, vegetation) combined with great urban structure.

I love Santiago! It was vibrant, cultural and thriving. The best part of the city was its people. They are interesting, insightful and love to tell you where to visit and what to see. They stop what they are doing to assist you, even if you don’t speak Spanish. I will visit again in the future. I have visited four other South American cities recently and I haven’t found it in those countries. It was safe for me as a solo traveler. In fact I extended my vacation days here because of all of the above and the beautiful mountains. I will encourage others to visit Santiago to experience it themselves.

Santiago is a vibrant, modern city. We liked the clean, efficient metro system, the cafe society in some areas, eg Bellavista and the city centre squares and parks like Santa Lucia. There are several very popular pedestrian precincts in the city centre with shops and cafes. Be careful in crowded places eg the old market area - keep desirable belongings (phones, cameras) close and out of sight. Also, expect European price levels - Chile is not a cheap country.
