The cabin was really close to the airport, very clean and comfortable. Our host picked us up from the airport and took us to the supermarket to get some supplies before taking us back to the cabin. The welcome we received was so warm and friendly. This was definitely the best place we stayed in the whole time we were in Chile. I wish we could have stayed longer!

Fantastic host, big room, super clean, walking distance from airport. It gets a bit cold, in the morning, but the blankets provided are plenty warm.

Location right by the airport after landing late. Great facilities, coffee/tea and drinking water all in the room ready. Owner was helpful and accommodating, no rush to leave in the morning so could rest up.

Uber works here. Quite a few dining options nearby. Shopping at a 7-story mall is very close: 5 min walk. Beautiful pier for bird watchers. We felt safe here. Most of the city is an easy walk. Love the parrillada and the Club Aleman for lunch and dinner.

We wanted to have two full days in PV.
We wanted to have two full days in PV. We made the right decision. First day we went to fruitillas for half day. Nice place for some hours. there is e nice theatre there. If you want to visit for a show, you will need to book in advance.
Second day was sunday and we booked to trip to the volcanos and waterfalls and beautiful turquoise lake. This was a good choice as sunday most was closed.

People come here because it is a major transport hub.
People come here because it is a major transport hub. The town itself is ugly and unsafe. The only place to visit in town is the fun, vibrant fish market. Spend most of your time in wonderful Puerto Varas, just a few km away.

There is more rain than England and that is saying something...
There is more rain than England and that is saying something. The scenery is spectacular and there are lots of tours you can go on. To keep things cheap, use the local buses as they are frequent and reliable.

So, there is nothing about Puerto Montt.
So, there is nothing about Puerto Montt.
I thought it would be a nice city.
But its not.
So skip it, instead better stay in Puerto Varas - it is closer to the nice things in the area, hotels are good and atmosphere is better.
In Puerto Montt, once it gets dark it doesn't feel very safe....

A very jolly town, clearly doing quite well.
A very jolly town, clearly doing quite well. All the locals we spoke to were friendly and helpful, particularly the tourist Info in centre of town.
We rented a car for a couple of days from Morris at Sur Car Rental, hilarious and good value.
