The location was just south of the city center but within walking distance. Parking in front of the room was very convenient. Check-in was efficient by super-friendly Alan. Room was spacious and clean. Check-out was an easy drop-oof of the key and we were on our way.

Nice to have a breakfast in the morning but I found the omelet and sausage bland. The waffles were fun.
The room was great. We booked two rooms so our family could join us. Wish we could have had adjoining rooms but one wasn't available.

Visiting the Malaspina Galleries rock formation is a must see, close to the ferry terminal. Driving around the island is easy, although there are some unpaved roads that cross the centre.

This wasn't our first trip to Nanaimo so we did know our way around most of the city and beyond, but it is always a great place to be.
We love the well planned Harbour walkways, many events in the parks, the beach trails. Our favourite beach walks are Piper's Lagoon and Neck Point.
There are many good music venues, restaurants, scenic drives and walks.
We easily found side roads that were basically parallel to the highway to get to and from downtown.
Nanaimo has has a LOT to offer any visitor of any age!
Can't wait to return!

A charming island with few conveniences.
A charming island with few conveniences. The major coffee shop looks warm and welcoming but the coffee--my cappuccino, at least--seemed to be missing actual coffee. Or else it was just weak? Just water and foam?
Unfortunately we are used to more luxury and conveniences so its charms were largely lost on us.

The Inner Harbor was beautiful.
The Inner Harbor was beautiful. The Snowbirds did a show when I was there. The harbor was lively and fun. The hiking in the area was awesome. Nanaimo is easy to navigate with a car. Great halfway stop between Victoria and Tofino.

Charming island - a hidden treasure so close to Nanaimo - a mere 25 minute ferry ride away.
Largely forested island. Many artists - much creativity evident. Simple life.
Beautiful views of the sea, other islands, coast mountains.
A couple of lovely restaurants and great coffee shops.
A few glorious remnants of the ancient forests.
Pages Resort well worth a visit for accommodation next to the marina.
A car is essential for visiting the island.
