Centrally located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, it’s within walking distance from Glória Subway Station and Municipal Theatre. Copacabana Beach is 10 minutes by car. Comfortable Modern clean Hotel. Loved the breakfast. Good value for money. I visited during the Rio Carnival and a few events were around the area where the hotel was located. It was closer to the airport. Bit further away from the beach. BUT uber is very cheap. Cost me £4-5 to get to Ipanema. Neighbourhood doesn’t look that unsafe compared to some of the reviews I had read before going on holiday. Some of the blocos were around the hotel and it was safe. Having said that I took Ubers to the beach everyday as it was very cheap.

Hotel was very close to the airport and staff was helpful and polite. Pricing was also good considering the location in the city. The room was spacious and clean, I would recommend it. Just a reminder that the centre of Rio de Janeiro is not very safe, so it is always good pay attention to your belongings when walking in the neighborhood.

Niteroi is about the same distance from the International Airport as the more famous South Zone (Copacabana. Ipanema). The Niteroi Palace Hotel is in town, walking distance from Shopping Centre and the 30 min relaxing ferry boats to Rio City Centre. Very Good nearby "home cooking by weight" lunch only restaurant - ask Desk for simple direction. Few central night-time restaurants, but there are some within (secure) taxi distance. Avoid sitting street side for snacks/coffee and not to attract attention to multiple hand/carry bags.

Arena Hotel at Av Atlântica, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil was wonderful, very nice crew, everyone super polite. They absolutely do everything to make guests feel welcome and special with very good prices. Definitely I will go back next year.

Niteroi is different from Rio.
Niteroi is different from Rio. Is not as touristy or big as Rio de Janeiro, but it preserves much of the good things Rio has. For instance, food can be very cheap or expensive and still you can be surprised with great flavours. The park of the city is a must to visit and see the landscape from the hill, the fortaleza is also worth visiting. From Niteroi you can go to Rio by boat in a one day or two-day trip. But also you can visit other beaches towards the ocean not as populated or touristy as copacabana or Ipanema. If you are looking for a place more quiet and less touristy than Rio de Janeiro, then Niteroi and San Francisco are going to be good choices. No metro or stadiums in Niteroi

What I like most was the tour which included the Christ...
What I like most was the tour which included the Christ redeemer and Sugar Love plus an all you can eat buffet lunch. The tour was booked through the hotel. The night club within 5 minutes driving distance from the hotel was nice and staffs were super friendly. Getting around was pretty easy either via train, yellow taxi or Uber with reasonable fare.

All good nice beaches , was warned to take care by so many people both before going and whilst there, but using common sense at no point did we feel threatened but we stayed only in the busy tourist areas
