Our booking was a late choice on a weekend that was heavily booked for the area. Our original booking had not been notified we needed a ground floor apartment so we had to cancel it. Toowoomba Hospital Apartments was expensive for what we got..It was old and had limited hot water. At $190 for the night I felt it was too expensive for what we got.. In its defence it was clean and we were notified how to access key from the safe.
The shower in the ablutions block was a bit low in height for someone as tall as me, but it certainly had the pressure they warn you about and was hot! I don't need air cond in Toowoomba's climate, some might find that trying- I'd recommend seeing if there were classier cabins there if you need this facility. Some of the doors in the budget room were a tad outdated and stuck a bit, but, hey, at $100 a night, you can't be too picky. Look, the product is as advertised; a budget room; and f thats your expectation, it ticks many boxes other in this bracket don't.
Beautiful old city full of nature strips and historical architecture. Being one of the largest regional cities in Queensland, the facilities in town are fantastic. There are some roads and planned works that could’ve been improved but thats to be expected in an older city. Lots of tourism activities, accommodation and shops.
We wandered around Queen's Gardens at dusk and enjoyed gorgeous floral displays and sight of Toowoombians enjoying the park. Afterwards discovered great Middle Eastern restaurant: El Attar Middle Eastern Grill. Food size was ample, value was good and flavours were fantastic - best we have had after 1 month of travelling in Australia, Brisbane to Port Douglas and back, some in higher end restaurants. The restaurant is casual, staff are friendly and as said, the food was phenomenal. One suggestion is that it is BYO, so if you want a glass of wine with dinner, bring your own.
We visited during the annual festival of flowers. Gardens are lovely. There's also interesting things to do for train enthusiasts. Plenty of shopping and dining options without the stampede of big cities. I was pleasantly surprized by the amount of green spaces and parks. Plenty of space to read a book, picnic or just walk through parks. Lovely museum and cafes to suite your needs
We found the people we met very friendly, even the cafe staff who were under the pump as they were so busy. A shout out to the teams at the "Finch Cafe" and "Jillys". Dinner at Fitzy was great too.
