Feels like a very isolated location but still close enough to the city center. You can see some wildlife in the morning just outside your cabin.

You could be in central Hobart which is buzzy and interesting, OR you could have the most stunning view of Hobart and sit on the deck, watching the sunset with a glass of wine, a takeaway pizza and 20 mins away from the airport with wild wallabies less than 6ft away. I feel very lucky to have stayed here, for such a reasonable price - I imagine that next summer, or in a few years, the secret will be out and it will be very expensive and all booked up at Mt Rumney Escapes. It really is exceptional, and I wish we had booked to stay longer than the one night at the end of the road trip before we went to airport. It would be such a gorgeous place to stay for a longer period of time. On a basic level, it was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed. But more than that, the hosts were so proactive and helpful - giving detailed information on how to reach the property etc. My mum left something behind, and within an hour of the checkout time, the hosts had messaged offering to post it back to the UK.

We stayed because it is close to our family but the airport is only a short drive away. Close to smallish shopping area and pubs. Not too far from central Hobart but the value for money is outstanding

Hotel is really close to the airport and they are within walking distance of a nice eatery Tasmania Gourmet Seafood which is a huge plus. Staff in hotel was extremely pleasant and acceded to our request for using of a room with full kitchen to cook our dinner.

The view was fantastic, and made the stay a real adventure.
The view was fantastic, and made the stay a real adventure. We drove down again from our cabin to shops to get breakfast for the next mroning, and we were easily able to get excellent food. Our son visited from South Arm, and brought us pizza for dinner.
However, the drive up to the cabin is over steep, uneven gravel roads, and it requires experience with this type of driving.

Lewisham is a quiet hamlet, with clean beaches, surf, sand and bay for sailing, boating, SUP, fishing and enjoying the peace. The Lewisham Hotel is a gathering spot for the locals and visitors to view the sunsets over water towards Mt Wellington, and really delicious menu of fresh and local produce. Such a delightful place, close to Hobart, Richmond and Maria Island. A good base away from the CBD.

The B&about is close to Hobart CBD but there are some good restaurants in Howrah close by down on the shoreline. We ate at
The waterfront hotel where the food was good but we were seated near the bar !If you could request a water view & sit by the windows it would be better.
Our meal at the Italian restaurant Cugini which is on the shoreline too. Amazing ,tasty food. The Gnocchi was incredible.
There is a shopping centre close by as well.We used our stay in Howrah for the last days of our trip as it was close to the airport for our morning flight & we could just relax before our trip.Beautiful views & quiet at the B&B.You do need a car to get around Howrah. Good as a base if you wanted to go to Hobart CBD or Port Arthur on day trips.

Stairs to cottage are dangerous and not compliant.
Stairs to cottage are dangerous and not compliant.
Some of the pots/cutlery/dishes were dirty.
Views were stunning. While I appreciate the request to not walk in the vines, most places use pics of people having a drink surrounded by vines as a selling point. Would have loved the option to follow a procedure to decontaminate and enjoy the outdoors more.
Spider webs on roof above bed freaked out the Mrs.

Loved Mount Rumney.
Loved Mount Rumney. Prepare for a bit of a drive up and road can be a bit dicey, but well worth it if you take your time. Glad we stayed the 5 days. So relaxing. We went out daily to various places and it was so good to come back to Wombat house to wind down with the wonderful view and a nice cold drink lol. We went to Old Hobart Town in Richmond, which young ones should love, as it is a miniature of Hobart back in the day. Just like doll houses. You can also visit Richmond gaol. We went to Campbeltown and Ross to see the bridges built by the convicts. Visited Port Arthur and was amazed with the changes and work they have done there. We are lucky we weren't born back then and a convict. Got the ferry from Bellerive to Salamanca Markets and had a good walk around. Went to Mausons Hut museum and then back on ferry. Much easier than trying to park in Hobart. Overall, Mount Rumney is a great starting point for tourists.

Sorell is an excellent 'way-point' between the historic Richmond township, the Tasman Peninsula and the Tasmanian East Coast, not too far out of Hobart and quite close to the airport. Excellent fuel prices and several good dining options.
