The location is fantastic. Easy walking distance to any attractions and food in the area, and it's on a quiet tree lined street. The room itself is simple but comfortable. And most of all I appreciated the hosts friendly and helpful attitude!

Having stayed at Kariappa House I can honestly say that I will certainly be back again. The staff are really very nice and helpful and Ramji was really nice and quite an interesting person. Not sure why an earlier guest did not like him. He went out of his way to help us. We met the owner Kakoli briefly. She was warm and friendly and invited us to stay back for Diwali celebration. The room was very clean and comfortable. Being a day before Diwali there were some cracker sounds but that was everywhere. Breakfast was excellent. We loved the in-house pets, Jazzy and the cats. The best feature was the pool. It was such a treat to have this lovely lap pool all to ourselves. The location is very close to the French Quarter (walking distance) but the approach is through some narrow roads which did not bother us. The Parking was very convenient. I will definitely be back for a longer stay.

As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe and at ease throughout my stay. The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the area. The hosts were welcoming, and the overall ambiance was warm and inviting. Highly recommend it!

The property was amazing and the location was very apt to go around the city. The hosts were very comforting and provided everything we could ask for. The entire process of checking in was smooth and the hosts gave us plenty of details for us to be ready to explore the town. The meals provided (cooked by the hosts themselves) tasted soo good, they can easily give any restaurant a run for their money. Would definitely recommend trying their food. The cleanliness was also top notch. Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone coming to Pondicherry wanting a good home stay vibe and great location.

The staff were exceptionally responsive -- from Anil who checked us in to Daia and Senthil and Karuna who served us dinner, and everyone else we encountered. The decor was minimalist, the rooms were spacious and bright, and the location was convenient for walking around. We had a couple of meals at the hotel, both of which were outstanding -- the moringa soup and the poached egg with bacon powder are must-haves.

On a small, unassuming street in the Heritage Town of Puducherry, the car stopped at what seemed to be a family home. A closer look and I saw two gorgeous, smooth, satin pillars, the red oxide of shiny floors that extended onto the 'thinnai' (outdoor seating area). This was Maison Perumal! We were welcomed into this traditional Chettiar home, with two beautiful courtyards, expansive rooms, stained glass on the walkways, a terrace area and lush greenery everywhere! Our two night stay was extremely comfortable, the food was deliciously authentic, the attention, service and hospitality, excellent. Special mention needs to be made - Elby, the manager/'go-to' for any questions /help, and Jayaprakash, who served us with a smile, all the time! Maison Perumal was a haven of serenity and calm from the hustle and bustle of the streets of Pondicherry. Five Stars to Maison Perumal. Lunch at the sister hotel Maison De Palais was disappointing to say the least, and avoidable. Our two night break in Pondicherry was memorable!
