I had a wonderful stay and a great travel experience thanks to the amazing owner. 1. They offered a pick-up service, which was very convenient since private cars are not allowed inside the old town. 2. We received plenty of restaurant coupons, maps, and travel tips. 3. There was no push to upsell services, but whenever we needed something, the owner provided a perfect solution at a very fair price. 4. The house is well-maintained, full of character, and has a rich historical charm. 5. After we checked out, we still had several hours before our train, and they kindly offered us a place to rest. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance!

We loved our stay in Datong. The hotel has the best location in the heart of the old town to enjoy the atmosphere of the old town fully including night streets and morning monasteries quietness. Hotel s atmosphere is unique, old-style with all the comfort, and is like a museum decorated with so many exponats. people in hotel were totally helpful and kind and breakfast fantastic, thank you again and see you again! P.s. please note, it is common in china that in many hotels there are no wardrobes, which is to be considered if you are staying longterm.

Highly recommended. First of all, it is only 7 mins walk from the ancient city of pangyao. It is also so nearby the railway station. You can go by DIDI or bus, both are so convenient. Second, the decor of the place is AMAZING! I couldn’t help take pictures and video when i first came it. They even have a swing and glass-fish! The staff are so friendly and nice people. The Owner gave me water when i first came and when i left. Whenever i ask for anything she always helps. They have bar and food there with nice prices. I didn’t eat there but saw the food, it looked so delicious. The rooms were also amazing, it is two levels bed and mine was the one above. Surprisingly, it was so comfortable too. When i move it doesn’t vibrate into the bottom bed. The toilet is clean and they have shower gel, hair shampoo, small towel, and toothbrush with toothpaste ready for you to use. The air conditioner works fine and the wi-fi is connected from my room.

The hotel is incredibly beautiful and authentic, with every detail carefully thought out and full of charm. The room itself was stunning, combining traditional atmosphere with great comfort – and the beds were fantastic! The value for the experience we had was truly amazing. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were so kind, warm, and helpful, making us feel very welcome from the very first moment.

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Amazing location, right in the center of ancient town of Pingyao but still very quiet. The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. I highly recommend a short or longer stay at the Ji Family Courtyard Inn.

If you want the romance of a traditional courtyard with true boutique-hotel comfort, stay here. The property is brand-new, immaculate, and beautifully lit at night. Rooms are quiet and minimalist with great water pressure, reliable fast Wi-Fi, plenty of bedside outlets, and strong AC/heat. The bed and linens meet Western comfort standards. Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

The owner and his daughter did everything to make us feel at home. The place was really beautiful, our room was cozy and warm. They cooked us breakfast even if we had to leave early in the morning. They were so kind to take us to the train station. If you come to Pingyao this is the perfect place to stay!
