Absolutely brilliant hosts, brilliant food, lovely setting beside river, very comfortable room, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We loved it. The Sunday roast was amazing, the beef just melted when you cut it. Breakfast was a feast of Scottish flavours. The whole ambience was just superb. This accommodation is without a doubt an unique blend between old and new. We were astonished upon arrival to the house, the instructions we received were very friendly and clear. We went to get dinner to the places recommended in their house guide and brought it back and prepared ourselves a dinner fit for kings (and a queen). We were very sorry that we booked only for one night but we are already planning to return.

Lots of nice touches, tissues, body lotion etc. etc. Kate is an excellent host and I felt very welcome. There is an excellent Scottish inspired breakfast menu, I finally opted for smoked haddock and haggis, both delicious. Bart, the playful young cat, was entertaining and made the place seem even more homely! Would definitely stay again if in Castle Douglas!
