My girlfriend and I stayed here several days to rest after the rainforest treks. This residence was a pleasant discovery and a rare little gem in the world of hospitality. The staff has always been friendly, really helpful and ready to welcome you at any time or in case of need. Best of all and super recommended! Five stars because more is not possible! ;)

The islands around Semporna are like heaven on earth. The white sandy beach and crystal clear water is a mesmerizing view that you can't have somewhere else. If you happen to visit Semporna or Tawau make sure don't exlcude this from your must do list here in eastern Sabah.
Rubbish is everywhere. They have a beautiful island. But i am really sad to see how they handle the rubbish. I feel ashame to an outsider/tourist since i am sabahan too. If its people dont change, for sure one day ppl will not coming to semporna anymore.
There are a few shopping mall like Imago, Suria Sabah, 1 Borneo and other's, also delicious food at Philipino Market, also price can negotiate at some sourviner and snacks stall.
Interesting places to visit are; Desa Dairy Farm, Rabbits Village, Strawberry Garden, Fish Spa, Kundasang National Park, War Memorial Park, Sabah Tea Farm, Fast Food Corner like KFC, Mini Market, Sundry Shop & Sweater Shop.
Friendly, friendly people! Helpful and kind. Beautifully located next to the sea. Excellent and very affordable seafood. Surprisingly good ceramics collection at museum. Despite its political situation, Sabahans live harmoniously with one another. Go visit these two cultural centers for an insight to Sabah of ethnic history and culture: Monsopiad Cultural Village & Mari Mari Cultural Village. Finally, go dine at The Philippines Market but don’t close your eyes to poverty; be grateful for your life. Oh and enjoy affordable seafood at Welcome Seafood Restaurant!
im a sabahan and we enjoyed near to the beach, and this place was the right fit in our budget as well as our needs to be near to the beach from our room! great pool and parking space. spacious room for family to enjoy
I was so impressed with the politeness of the sabahan. Particularly on the road and regardless races. I am so excited to see the tolerance of its people. Regardless of the beauty of its scenaries, I am so much attracted to its people. I left my heart there and thinking of visiting Sabah next time 😍
If you need life night stay in KK city at Merdian, Hyatt, Hilton, Loft at Imago, or the brand new Marriott. If you don’t need City life travel the extra 40 minutes north to Borneo Beach Resort or Sabah Beach Reaort. (They are same resort just two different management companies). For that type of stay expect quiet nights but nice pool and beach and great sunsets.
The Four Points is a good quality hotel located right on the waterfront. The issue around the area surrounding the hotel is pollution based. Some interesting sights and smells emanating from the water. Sandakan has some fabulous temples, natural attractions, wildlife and good quality seafood. Happy to come back to this hotel and town to further explore and experience Sabah.
They really preserve and protect their culture. Indeed, a good place to discover. See for yourself. 😊 I would recommend you visit the Sabah Museum to give you background about the place.
We spent 6 nights at the Last Frontier Boutique Resort and enjoyed every second. The opportunities to view wildlife are truly amazing, both at the hotel and nearby (at one point we even had a visit from an orangutan with her baby and juvenile). The hotel is very comfortable; the staff are all exceptionally accommodating; and Jason's cooking is reason to visit in itself! Very close to the Kinabatangan river, right in the heart of Sabah, the Last Frontier Boutique Resort should be on everyone's list. We will definitely be back.
It was very well maintained even though it was an older hotel compared to other nearby hotels. Facilities wise, nothing over the top. Same as other hotel.. location was quite good, walking distance to Filipino Market, Suria Sabah n the daily night market. We were having our simple wedding anniversary getaway.. n the staff made the room a little extra special with the specially folded towels that were shaped like swans.. Oh.. I left some tips for housekeeping but they didn't take it.. thats a really nice suprise😅
This was just a stop over on the way to Sabah so we only stayed one night but the hospitality we were greeted with was exceptional and the breakfast buffet in the morning was absolutely delicious. It was really nice to be looking out over the Hard Rock Cafe as well and the dinner here was excellent also. We had a room with a view of the ocean which was also amazing for such an affordable hotel. We had a wonderful stay and thank you to all the staff for their wonderful hospitality. We hope to return again one day :)
For singaporean reading..this hotel location remind me of our East Coast park hawker Center area. Like Katong park area hotel before the East Coast highway construction.Sabah food and people is similar to us Private but when approach , like us, they are kind.Tawau is a bit Batam style minus the bars. Very quiet in the evening due to early sunrise and sunset. For Muslim family travel without five star in mind . It’s a good getaway.
Kota Kinabalu
Staff always replied promptly, which was very helpful. It’s indeed a very good location next to Jesselton Point that we could just go island hopping anytime. The place is also easily accessible to Sabah Tourism Board, Gaya Street, Suria Shopping Mall and many others. The whole apartment was clean with amazing views, and having a washing machine in it was the best thing ever for us! Basically everything needed was provided.
Sandakan
The staff was/is extremely friendly and helpful as someone already mentioned 12 out of 10 in the ranking. Bobot our guide needs a special mentioning, very knowledgeable about the animals, and a fun person to be with. The driver to got us to the Lodge SAHA, already explained a lot about Sabah and the Lodge, very helpful. It should be mentioned, you are in a Lodge in the middle of nowhere, don't expect.a 5star Hotel
The location is good in terms of exploring Sandakan. The main area of restaurants and night markets is a 5 - 10 minute walk away. However, there is not that much to do in Sandakan, and the main attractions of Sabah are not in walking distance of Sandakan. It was a 30 minute drive from the hotel to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. It is a very basic and fairly clean hotel but you get what you pay for.
Lahad Datu
This is an absolute little gem of a place. Super-friendly, accommodating & attentive hosts, large comfortable rooms and excellent food. Felt very welcome and at home the minute we arrived. Breakfast was tasty and beautifully presented, but we were even more impressed by the evening meal (available by prior arrangement) - exquisite Malaysian cuisine and easily the best meal we had during our 18days in Sabah.
Extremely near to Syria Sabah, food is readily available. Walking distance to many attractions in the city. Friendly staff, helpful in getting day tour for me. Bellman is always sorta looking out for guests who stay there, so it's nice knowing someone is keeping an eye on guests'safety. Hotel supports sustainable living, so I love the concept of not changing towels everyday etc..
Kota Kinabalu
I can see team work. I can see how the meticulous works are done in the management, makes Shangrila outstanding. Coming from Sarawak, I applause the hotel for keeping the Sabahan vibes for the visitors by playing the traditional instruments/wearing traditional costumes at the main entrance. The staffs were very pleasant and doing their parts well too. Well done to all!
Location - perfect! It is in between both Imago Shopping Mall and Suria Sabah. The Sinsuran market is directly in front of the hotel. Room was spacious easy to move around. Bed big enough for the three of us. Love, love the breakfast! Variety of food options from western to asian. Staff have been very hospitable and friendly. Complimentary parking for residents is a bonus!!
The hotel location is very convenient for us, it basically surrounded by all the fast food restaurants and only few minutes walk to Suria Sabah and Wisma Merdeka. Inside room were a bit small compared to what we expected but it still comfortable to sleep in for a night, suitable for solo traveller ! Staff also very good! Recommended !
The location was great. Right in front of Suria Sabah mall, walking distance to Gaya night market. Definitely a worthy stay. The hotel interior was spectacular, the smell (diffuser) was pleasant and the best are the hotel staff; they were so friendly and helpful!
Sandakan
Great hostel in the centre of sandakan , large room (twin room ) , comfy beds , the hostel is kept very clean in all areas . Staff were also friendly , along with the residents of sandakan . This is one of the friendliest places we have visited in sabah .
Kota Kinabalu
The amenities - electric gas, toaster, microwave, rice e, shampoo & gel bath shower The location - next to Jesselton ferry terminal, Suria Sabah Mall, Jesselton Mall, SICC etc The view from the apartment - seaview 😍
Sandakan town is a nice place to visit but lacks soul. The Sabah Hotel was a paradise to escape to. Beautiful setting, walking distance from town, Agnes Keith's house and the Chinese cemetery. Loved it!
I love everything about the hotel, especially the location. Really easy for us to find foods and shopping mall. Just next to Centre Point Sabah. Wow, definitely gonna repeat here. Thank you! 😎
Kota Kinabalu
Everything you want a hostel to be. It's clean, comfortable, has a nice social area and the staff is super nice and helpful and always willing to help you plan your way around Sabah.
Kundasang
1 of the best hotel in kundasang, Sabah. Good and near view of Mount Kinabalu. Staff very friendly. Food delicious.Happy staying here. My kids said must come back here.
No breakfast during my stay, however walking around was easy and near to shopping mall Suria Sabah, Jesselton and the gaya street night bazaar/Sunday Tamu.
