Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.
The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.
Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.
At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.
On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Bournemouth is a very nice town with beautiful sandy beaches. There is plenty of choices for lunch and dinner.
It is a bit out-of-date and looks like its glory days are gone though, as there were many closed shops at the city centre and the feeling was it looked a bit sad and abandoned.

We only stayed one full day, and I will say there is a lot...
We only stayed one full day, and I will say there is a lot to see and do so a couple days is reccomended. The beach was nice, with some great restaurants and options for bars in town. It is an old town, and there are some areas that could use restoration, but it has a certain charm. Everywhere we went the people were freindly.
The room is vey good , well designed , my wife liked the decor . Breakfast was the best part of the stay , start with nicely brewed coffee , delicious home baked pastry , cooked breakfast by the finest chef , a personalised service from the waitress serving breakfast , followed by creamy yoghurt and fruit salad made with perfection . The location is great , 5 mins walk to the Bournemouth pier , town and 5 mins drive to Bournemouth square , my wife loved it and will definitely go there again , the owner was very friendly and welcoming .
We’ve never felt more welcome with our dog than here! The love and attention was simply amazing. We had a little doggy welcome pack and a customized map with all the dog friendly things to do. Pam was very attentive and gave us advice that had us visit some real Bournemouth gems. The room was extremely spacious and comfortable. Very soft bed and pillows that guaranteed a good night’s sleep after a long day of sightseeing. The location was perfect - quiet but also very close to the beach. A real home away from home!
I have been coming to Bournemouth for years, but never felt more at home at a hotel than at the Fairmount Hotel! The hotel is central, close to the ocean and the town Centre, with local shops and restaurants in walking distance. The rooms are always neat, tidy, and welcoming. The beds are comfortable, internet is great and the atmosphere is cosy and comfortable. And the best part about the hotel are the owners, who are caring, loving and heart-warming, and always go the extra mile to ensure you feel at home!
The apartment was very comfortable and had everything needed for a short stay. We particularly appreciated the extra space the apartment had compared to a stay in a hotel.
The property is situated close to Bournemouth town centre and is only a 15 minute walk to the pier and beach.
Jez was a great host who communicated well both on the run up to the stay and while we were there to check in.
We had an amazing time staying at Debbie’s and Peter’s place. The two were so welcoming and warm we felt at ease right away, they even accommodated our changed arrival time. The location of the hotel is great, it’s a very short walk to the beach and everything is very clean and neat. We will definitely be back when we come back to Bournemouth.
The room was big and clean. Breakfast was great.
The restaurant staff that served the breakfast were really nice.
The front desk officials were also humble and flexible. I don't remember their names but I remember Alice at the front desk as she was really cool.
Location is near to the Bournemouth beach and to the Market.
The hotel was stunning inside with its period features and we received a very warm welcome from the owner.. The location was perfect as it's just a few minutes walk to the beach and a twenty minute walk to Bournemouth town centre. The onsite parking was a bonus too. I would definitely recommend a stay here.
The view from our room, all along Bournemouth beach, in either direction, was spectacular. Sadly, there wasn't much else to praise. There's even an old swimming pool at the front of the hotel, no longer in use, but still full of dirty water. No excuse, for such a big company as Best Western.
This place isn’t the Ritz obviously, but it’s very clean, decent sized room, helpful staff, easy check in and out. It’s an absolute bargain, I’ve stayed in much more expensive hotels in Bournemouth and they weren’t as nice. Definitely recommend, just not for your honeymoon!
amazing room and cleaning and comfortable room with nice space of the room, the staff friendly and nice the hotel location is close with everything in Bournemouth beach and city center, if i come back again to Bournemouth for sure i will be stay in this hotel really amazin
good location, they have a nice lounge with entertainment, its proper value for money, especially when you only need the room to sleep in. its the first time ive seen a clean kettle in a hotel. the bathroom floor could be improved but its overall a great stay
The hotel had friendly, very helpful staff… the location was absolutely perfect for going into Bournemouth or walking the beach to sandbanks. It was clean and had everything you needed… I can’t believe how good it was for the price!!
Bournemouth is a terrific location, and the Royal Bath Hotel- the first hotel built to accommodate visitors to the area in 1838- is in a near perfect location, close to the Pier and overlooking the East Cliff
I really like the hotel, amazing staff, not far from the beach and city centre. If will have chance to come to Bournemouth again will be happy to stay in this hotel again- highly recommended 💙💛
Nice hotel but a bit worn. The room was a great size with a nice, clean bathroom. Breakfast was okay. Location is very convenient for Bournemouth city centre and staff were friendly.
Hotel very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, great bar, excellent breakfast options/choice and location was perfect for our stay. Walking distance to town, beach and gardens!!
The staff was brilliant. The hotel was very clean and I was very happy with the location it was 5 minutes away from the beach which was very big. I was very overwhelmed
Location is great, short walk to beach and centre of town. Free parking was also really nice considering most hotels in Bournemouth charge £15 per night.
